Troops in Empty Palace Square
Sep 2017. Holiday in St Petersburg Russia and I was staying 10 minutes walk from Palace Square. So, I took one of my morning walks expecting to see an empty Palace Square at 8:30am. Instead I found a couple of hundred troops, a full military band, a couple dozen police cars and other military vehicles for carrying the troops. No tourists. The troops were ordered to sing the national anthem and then they packed up and left. I presume some practice for the St Petersburg Russian revolution.
